River Ridge Farms grows a tasty and hearty Bushels-of-Berries line that includes black berries, blue berries, raspberries and strawberries throughout spring. They are perfect in urban settings as they fit perfectly on a patio or in a small outdoor space. Though these hearty plants grow just about anywhere they are best planted in an garden or as part of an edible landscape design.

Black berries and raspberries grow on vines, blueberries are shrubs and strawberries on the other hand are a plant that can be grown in a urn, hanging pot or used as ground cover in any landscape. As long as these plants are cared for they will flourish and continue to produce fruit for a very long time. Strawberries will last approximately 2 years.

"Everysweet" Strawberries (Fragaria x ananassa) produce throughout its growing season. It puts out fruit from March - October each year.

 

This plant needs to be planted in well-drained, fertilized soil and in full sun to produce best results.

Natchez Black Berries (Rubus argutus 'Natchez') is thornless, agressive grower that can be pruned to keep its shape.  They will grow 4'-5' high and can spread 10'-12' wide if left unpruned. 

Make sure the soil is fertilized and place mulch around the base of the plants to conserve water and control weeds. The blackberry plant requires well-drained soil. Water regularly.

If you are planting more than one plant make sure they are spaced 3-4 feet apart. These erect shrubs should be supported with a trellis. 

Note: 'Natches' will produce fruit planted as individuals altough more fruit can be expected when planted in groups of 2 or more.

Misty and Sunshine Blueberries (Vaccinium x 'Misty', 'Sunshine') are Southern Highbush type. That means it requires very little cold to bloom and set fruit. They are upright shrubs growing to approx 4'-5' tall and around. They should be planted or placed in full sun with plenty of room to grow.

Make sure the soil is fertilized and place mulch around the base of the plants to conserve water and control weeds. The Blueberry plant requires acidic, well-drained soil. Water regularly.

Mysore Raspberries (Rubus niveus)  are an agressive vining type of shrub that can be pruned to keep its shape. They will grow 4'-5' high and can spread 10'-12' wide if left unpruned. 

This plant requires full sun and regular watering. Soil should be well-drained and fertilized.


Fruiting may occur from July until Winter.
